DEAR LORD,
Author of my Vocation,
Never allow me to be tired before my work is done;
Be resting when the harvest needs me;
… Be partying when I should be praying;
… Be partying when I should be praying;
Be silent when I should be speaking out;
To be drunk when I shold be sober.
May I not be reaping when I should be sowing;
Destroying when I should be restoring;
Desecrating when I should be consecrating;
Tearing down when I should be building up; Or
Cursing when I should be blessing!
But GRACIOUS LORD,
Those times when I should sleep, rest, reap, eat, drink, or party,
LET THESE NOT BE DENIED ME!
I do not say no to your call, give me discernment to understand and the courage to answer.
I do not refuse your crown of thorns, but I ask for fortitude to wear it.
I do not turn from my cross, but may I have strength to carry it.
From the lance I do not shrink, but give me the heart to receive it.
To the sick may I be able to impart healing,
bring your love and forgiveness to sinners, and
care for your flock with deligence, patience, and understanding.
May I have the voice to comfort those who mourn,
the key to unlock those imprisoned, and
the food to feed your hungry people.
Amen.
